What is self-publishing?

Self-publishing usually refers to an author completing the entire publishing process—including printing, editing, proofreading, formatting, cover design, and book marketing—on their own or with their own resources. What royalty rates are common in traditional publishing vs. self-publishing?

Most traditional publishing deals have a royalty rate that ranges from 7 to 25 percent of each book sold. Sometimes a publishing deal will involve an author advance as well. Usually for first time authors without much of a track record, this can be relatively modest ranging from $500 to a few thousand.

Do you offer custom packages?

We don't usually offer custom packages as most authors are able to select a package that fits best for them. But, still feel free to reach out and we will do our best to find a solution that you are happy with.

How long does each step of the publishing process take?

The length of a book project can vary depending on each part of the process. Some of the factors that will impact the overall publishing length are: how quickly revision rounds and author feedback are received, current bandwidth of our team, the length of the book, and the density of the content. A book design might take 2-6 weeks, editing might take 2-4 months, and ghostwriting is usually around around 9-12 months.

Do you offer offset printing?

Yes! Some authors prefer to have more books on hand than a print-on-demand publisher such as Amazon KDP or Ingram Spark can print affordably. In this case, using a larger offset printer can lower your per-book cost and give you enough inventory for book signings, giving away free copies, or bulk orders from conferences or speaking events.
